Top 10 Traffic Techniques for 2014

  • Thursday, 2 January 2014
  • As a website or blog owner, without traffic you will not survive!
There are numerous ways both online and offline, to draw traffic to your website. Some ways are of course, more effective than others. Some techniques have improved over the years and some have become obsolete.

Must See: 5 Strategies for Search Engine Optimization

With the average conversion rate of ecommerce sites being about 3%, you will need a lot of traffic to become successful. Of course, everyone's idea of success is different. One webmaster might strive for 100 visitors a day while others might need 10,000 to make their business work. Whatever your goal number may be, you cannot escape the need for traffic.

As this is year 2014, we need to employ the most effective methods available to reach our goal traffic number. Below are some of the best techniques available online to bring forth that traffic we need for our internet business survival!

    1. Social Media - Since social media has exploded onto the worldwide web, the flames have gotten hotter and hotter. To be successful with social media marketing, you need to participate consistently. This cannot be a now and then project. You must commit fully to your social media campaign. Be sure to fill out your profiles completely. I see so many people with blank profile pages. This will not propel your marketing efforts.

Facebook - The most visited social media page. Be sure to get involved and do what you can do engage your followers and friends.

Twitter - Connect with your followers. Respond to them and address them regularly. Don't just tweet ads and sales pitches.

Pinterest - Pinterest is a very visual social site so be sure to use effective images and photos.

Google+ - Take advantage of all the great features provided!

    2. Content Marketing - Write informative articles and use them as guest posts on blogs, submit them to Ezine publishers and prominent business or other appropriate websites. People pay attention to good content and it will bring those people to your site.

    3. Blog Commenting - Post relevant comments with substance. Don't just type in "Me too" or "I agree". Add facts, resources, etc. to get more people to become interested in what you have to say. When people pay attention to what you say and become interested, they will also become interested in you and your business.

    4. Search Engines - Search engines are always changing. What worked last year might not work this year so keep up with the search engines and make any necessary adjustments to your website. Keep in mind that no matter the changes, good content will always bring results. Update your content regularly and keep your site fresh!

    5. Newsletter - Publishing a  newsletter is still a powerful way to get traffic and increase sales. Make your newsletter interactive and build a foundation with your readers. Feature a FAQ section or offer a weekly contest. Add some fun and personality to your newsletter but do not add anything inappropriate or offensive.

    6. Blogging - If you still do not have a blog, you should definitely consider adding a blog to your marketing agenda. Blogs are more likely to place high in the search engines. An active, content-filled blog will bring you a ton of traffic.

    7. Podcasting - A podcast is simply a digital file made available for download to numerous devices. Podcasting is becoming very popular and can do a lot for your traffic numbers. Create a podcast that deals with your business niche. Add your website link several times to get people to visit your site.

    8. Mobile Marketing - More and more people are going mobile with the internet. You have to keep up and be sure your website is mobile-friendly. Gear your marketing towards mobile users. The need for mobile marketing will dramatically increase in 2014!

    9. Interviews - Interviewing an expert in your field could bring you a lot of free traffic. If this person is well-known and respected, many people will be searching for this person and your website will become more popular.

    10. Video Marketing - People are visual creatures. Our brains process visual information much more efficiently then plain text. 90% of online shoppers say that watching a video will influence their decision to buy. If you have not yet started dabbling in video marketing, then 2014 is the year to get started!

Some of the older marketing methods such as safelists, free classifieds, banner advertising, webrings and mass email (spam) marketing are just not very effective and some could even result in problems for you.

Keep an eye on new marketing trends to ensure you are taking advantage of the best marketing tactics available to bring the most traffic to your site. Much success to you!

All You Need to Know About Apple's iOS 7

  • Thursday, 13 June 2013
  • We all knew it was coming, and the question on everyone's mind was : What new will Apple bring with iOS 7 after iOS 6? Announced at the WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013, iOS 7 aimed to please with its massive redesign and fancy new options. Apple has added umpteen new changes and features to woo the loyal Apple fan following. Here's list of things you need to know about iOS 7.

    Revamped Design
A flat design for iOS is something that has been making news for sometime now. Apple hasn't just adapted a flatter design, but completely revamped User Interface(UI). From type- faces to icon colour schemes, everything looks new and refreshed. Apple iOS 7 now comes with flatter icons, redesigned stock app icons and a sliding control panel giving access to frequently accessed apps. Apple has given preference to content over embellished looks and all unnecessary bars and buttons have been stripped off. iOS 7 looks simple and beautiful, and most importantly, it is a change everyone has been waiting for.

The new icons, fonts and colours.

    Control Center
Control Center gives you quick access to the controls and apps you always seem to need right this second. Just swipe up from any screen — including the Lock screen — to do things like switch to Airplane mode, turn Wi-Fi on or off, or adjust the brightness of your display. You can even shine a light on things with a new flashlight. Never has one swipe given you so much control.

    Notification Center
Notification Center lets you know about new mail, missed calls, to-dos that need doing, and more. And a new feature called Today gives you a convenient summary of, well, today. One glance at your iPhone and you’ll know if it’s a certain someone’s birthday, if you’ll need an umbrella, or if traffic will slow down your commute. You’ll even get a heads-up on tomorrow. You can access Notification Center from any screen, including the Lock screen. Just swipe down. And get up to speed.

    Multitasking
Multitasking has always been a smart way to switch between apps. Now it’s even smarter. Because iOS 7 learns when you like to use your apps and can update your content before you launch them. So if you tend to check your favorite social app at 9:00 a.m. every day, your feed will be ready and waiting for you. That’s multitasking in iOS 7. It knows what you want to do before you do.

    Camera
Camera in iOS 7 puts all your shooting formats — still, video, panorama, and now square — front and center. With a swipe, you can capture what you want the way you want. And new filters let you do even more with each image. Give it a retro feel. Dial up the contrast. Or go black and white. Artistic license is all yours.

    Photos
Now there are faster, easier, and more delightful ways to scroll down memory lane. Introducing Collections, Moments, and Years — smart groupings of your photos and videos based on time and place.

    AirDrop
Sending a photo or a document to someone via text or email is fine. But if that someone is right next to you, a text or an email suddenly feels like too many steps. Enter AirDrop for iOS. It lets you quickly and easily share photos, videos, contacts — and anything else from any app with a Share button. Just tap Share, then select the person you want to share with. AirDrop does the rest using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. No setup required. And transfers are encrypted, so what you share is highly secure.

    Siri
Siri in iOS 7 gets a new look, a new sound, and new capabilities. It features a redesigned interface that fades into view - on top of whatever’s on your screen. A clearer, more natural-sounding female or male voice makes Siri even easier to understand. It’s faster at answering questions and it checks more sources, such as Bing, Wikipedia, and Twitter. And Siri takes on extra tasks, like returning calls, playing voicemail, controlling iTunes Radio, and more.

    Apps Near Me
Apps Near Me — a new feature of the App Store in iOS 7 — shows you a collection of popular apps relevant to your current location. And a new Kids category spotlights the best apps for children based on age.

    10 Steps to Successful Blogging

  • Tuesday, 5 March 2013
  • Blogs can be a very marketable and very profitable tool if used correctly. Profiting from blogs is just a matter of grabbing the attention of an audience and not doing any actual salesmen selling. In this article you will learn the 10 most essential steps to successful blogging.

    1. Where to Start?
You should begin your blog with a free blog hosting service such as Blogger, Wordpress, Journal Home etc. Starting with a free blog hosting service allows you to begin blogging instantly without having any advance knowledge of scripts, hosting, or programming language. It allows you to build an audience and buzz for your blog. It allows you to focus on your content and not the internal maintenance of the blog. The best benefit of starting with a free service, is in the case your blog doesn't become successful you do not lose any money or are you left holding the bill. The great thing about a blog is that they are organized in chronological order, your latest entry is displayed first. When your blog traffic grows greatly and you are ready to upgrade to your own domain, means you can setup your top level domain.

    2. Niche
A niche is a targeted product, service, or topic. You should first decide on a product, service, or topic which interest you. Choose an area which you can enthusiastically write about on a daily basis. You can use keyword research services like Google Keyword Tool or Yahoo! Buzz Index to find popular searched topics. It does NOT matter if your topic is popular as long as there is a audience for your topic and the topic is precisely focused then your blog should be successful. Anything can be considered a niche as long as it has a target audience no matter how large or how small the audience is.

    3. Update Daily
This step is a must and not a suggestion. Updating your blog daily not only keeps your blog more interesting to readers, but it also gives your blog fresh content on a day to day making it more appealing to search engines. Not updating your blog on an occasional holiday or one day here and there is understandable to most, but missing days at a time or weeks is unacceptable and will most likely result in your blog being unsuccessful. To keep your blog traffic and retain your visitors interest it is a must to update your blog daily with multiple entries. Until you have a steady audience you should try to update your blog everyday with at least 3 or more daily entries. The best way to accomplish this is to set aside 1-2 hours a day for tending to your blog and adding new entries. It may even be wise to schedule a set time which you dedicate to your blog each day.

    4. Traffic
It's no secret. You must have traffic to profit from blogs. There are numerous ways to build traffic. Paid advertising, free advertising, viral marketing, search engine marketing, RSS/XML feeds, and word-of-mouth. You should submit your blog URL address to search engines and blog directories. You should submit your RSS/XML URL feed to blog ping services like Technorati, Ping-O-Matic, and Blogdigger. You should try to write at least 1 full length article every week for syndication and submit your article to at least 10 article syndicators.

Also See : 5 Ways to Get Free Traffic

    5. Track Your Blog
How do you know if your blog has traffic? Just because no one is leaving comments doesn't mean your blog isn't growing. Many visitors do not leave comments but they are returning visitors. I know it sounds crazy but with blogs people are more interested in what "you" have to say! Many visitors do not comment their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time. Some do not comment at all, but are active daily visitors.

Tracking your blog does not have to be overly sophisticated usually a simple free page counter like StatCounter.com or Active Meter or Google Analytics will do the trick. Install (copy/paste) the code into the html of your blog template and start tracking your visitors. Its better to use a service which gives you advanced traffic analysis, such as keyword tracking information, referral information, and search engine information. Visitors, returning visitors, and unique visitors should be standard for any page counter service you choose.

    6. Social Media
Install social media sharing widgets and buttons to your blog, this will help your readers share your content with their friends and fans, thus bringing in more traffic and loyal readers, people love to share only content they like.

    7. Listen To Your Audience
When using the proper page counter you should begin to see how others are finding your blog and if through search engines then which keywords are being used to find your blog. If constantly your blog is being found by 1 or more keywords then focus your blog around those keywords to make it even more powerful. When writing entry titles and entries use the keywords as often as possible while keeping the blog legible and interesting.

    8. Interact With Your Visitor
You now have the traffic you deserve. You should begin interacting with your visitors. Create a regular theme such as: "Monday Money Tip" or "Picture of the Week" which entices your readers to look forward to each week.

Give your readers advance notice about a product, service, or topic which you are going to review and then talk about later. If the President was scheduled to give a speech then in your blog you should state that you "will discuss the speech and give your opinion after the speech airs. Comments will be appreciated".

    9. Make Money
Once your blog has gained some real momentum and your blog traffic is increasing then it is time to start thinking about turning your traffic into profit. You should use contextual advertising, like Google Adsense or Chitika. Contextual advertising is usually text links which use the content of your blog to publish targeted ads on your blog. The payout is usually based on a pay-per-click model, meaning for ever click an ad receives you are paid a small percentage of the profits.

    10. You're A Professional
You're a professional now! What are you still doing with that free blog hosting service? It is time to upgrade to a domain hosted solution. You need to get a web host and choose a domain name for your blog then check its availability. Select the blogging software you wish to use, such as: Squarespace.com, WordPress.org etc. When you have your new blog domain setup and ready for traffic then it is time for you to announce your move on all your previous blog accounts.

At the level of a professional blogger you may want to team up with 1 or more other bloggers. This will create a more interesting and more powerful blog.

How to Do a Better Search Engine Optimization Than Rest

  • Saturday, 16 February 2013
  • The problem with search engine optimization(SEO) is that almost all publishers and business owners online are trying it. This should not come as a surprise since SEO is considered as the key in doing well in the eyes of search engines. What this means is that in order to get ahead of the competition, then you must do your SEO much better than rest. This is the only way for you to get ahead with the rest that also take search engine optimization seriously.

Here are some suggestions on how you can out-do your competitors :

    1. The most important thing to do is to research the keywords well and to do so use Google Keyword Tool. And when you have identified the keywords for use in the content pages and the site, then its best that you should use the keywords on the right places. The right places include insertions of the keywords on the title tags, the Meta tags and the Alt for images. The links should be properly formatted as well. When using the keywords on the content, it should be kept in mind that there is a science as well in using the keywords. Don't overdo the use of the keywords. Based on the experiences of experienced publishers, the keyword density for content should not exceed 2 percent. Even in terms of keyword placement, there is a rule in doing this. To many, it is best to put the keyword on the title, the first sentence, the second paragraph and on the last sentence.

    2. Next up to the identification of keywords is the creation of great and helpful unique content. Users and readers should learn a thing or two about the content that you will provide. The better the content on the site, the higher the chances of being valued well by search engines. Also the contents that are posted on the site should be regularly updated, whether the update is daily or weekly it doesn't actually matter.

    Also  See :

    3. Try creating a Google site map which can be used by the search engine. There is a tool online that can guide you in the creation of the site map

    4. Another good move is to publish the articles to article directories and other article submission websites. Now, this article should have links that will point back to your website. This is a good move since search engines like to look at the inward pointing links to the site. The higher the page ranking of the site that points to your site, the better.

    5. And finally, it's best if you can read the suggestions offered by Google. The search engine giant has drafted its Webmaster Guidelines, detailing the best practices that should be adopted by anyone wishing to get noticed by Google.

How and Why Should I Start Building Backlinks?

  • Tuesday, 5 February 2013
  • The idea behind building backlinks is as simple as trying to get links that point directly to your website. Most people do not understand the concept of this search engine optimization activity. However, if you are aiming to put up new blog or website or some kind of online business, then you should carefully understand the reasons why you should spend some time in building quality backlinks for you website.

The main reason why you need to build backlinks is to get higher traffic in such a way that when people come across your links over the internet, they are most likely to click on them and visit your site. When you are able to reach more people and direct more people to your site, the more likely you get high traffic.

Must See : 3 Basic SEO Tips To Get Started

There are many other reasons on why you should concentrate on how you can effectively build backlinks and among these reasons is for your site to gain higher search engine rankings. Those days are gone when you simply have to put up your site, get a catchy domain name, and put up keyword-rich contents to see your site top the search results. The way that search engine providers such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo! deal with page rankings and search result positions are far more complex now.

It has been a common knowledge that what drives up your popularity and page ranking is the number of quality links that are targeted towards your website. This means that the more links you get, the higher your chances are of being on top of the search results page. However, this does not mean that search engine providers prefer the quantity of links you have rather than the quality of such. In fact, Google and Yahoo generally look into the quality of each link. Simply put, search engines will find your site to be relevant and reliable if popular sites link to you. This does not only pulls your page popularity up, but it also drives more traffic to your site while allowing you to reach more readers and prospect customers in no time.

There are too many ways to build backlinks. You can try finding sites that you like and simply e-mail the webmaster and offer a link exchange. There are also social bookmarking sites like Facebook, Google+ which you can take advantage of. These sites can generate quality links to your site without requiring you to link back to their site as well.

Understanding Web Traffic - Pageviews, Hits, Impression, Unique Visitor

  • Monday, 4 February 2013
  • There are various of terms like Hits, Pageviews etc when it comes to calculation of web traffics. Some statistics give you report in terms of unique visitors some provides more – Pageviews, Hits, etc. Here's a brief explanations for those who are confuse how figures in these web statistic terms are generated. Also this explanation helps in understanding web traffic.

    HITS
Hits is also known as request and it is the total number of files loaded when a single page is requested from the web server. So how hits are calculated? Suppose a single web page with 10 images (background.gif, transparent.gif etc)is loaded, that’s 10 hits for starters. The web page has 5 photos (example.jpg, photo.jpg, etc), that's another 5 hits. If you add up the JavaScripts, CSS files and all the external files, each time a web page is loaded, it can easily build up more than 50 hits. If you clear cache, reload the page, another 50+ hits again.

Nowadays, Hits are rarely used to judge a website traffic because they are not really accurate.

    PAGEVIEWS
Pageviews is a calculation of how many times a page is viewed. Say a visitor lands on your main page, that's count 1 pageview. Same visitor clicks on another page, that's another pageview. By dividing total pageviews with total unique visitors, you can get an idea how many pageviews each visitor generates.

    IMPRESSION
Impression is normally calculated in bulk of 1000. It counts how many times a element (image, text, video) appears on a web page. If a advertisement network is paying $3/CPM (Cost Per Thousand Impressions), that means you are getting paid $3 when the banner appears 1000 times on your web page.

    UNIQUE VISITORS
Unique visitors are normally equivalent to visits. Think of it as the number of different people (different IP) that visits your web page. Unique visitors or visits are the most important numbers of among all(pageviews, impression, hits), when it comes to determine the traffic of a specific website.

    Performance
In case of performance both operating system are equal. Since both the operating system has their own applications so we can consider they are powerful enough in their own respect. For example, you will not see a lag on any iPhone or iPad, but you can significantly see a lag in performance if the Android OS is not running on a capable device with good hardware specifications.

While on the powerful Android phones and devices you will be seeing that Android runs smoothly and gives powerful performance and with the latest Jelly Bean update Android is now even smoother and better than ever before.

    Features
Android and iOS both bring a lot of unique features in the market. Some has a feature that sets a trend while the other brings another great one, which just puts the feature of the other OS into shadow. Here we will be comparing some features of Android with some features of iOS.

To highlight some of the newly added features to both the operating system we can have a look at the voice assistant apps. In iOS, we have Siri, which is smart enough to answer your questions cleverly and appropriately while lags in the feature where you need to search for something. On the other hand Android introduced Google Now which is the best voice search assistant and uses the most powerful search engine i.e., Google.

We know that there exists a great competition between both the operating system as when one brings something new to the market the other one is ready to put that into dust with another new feature. But as I personally consider that if you start making a list of features that both the operating system provide then you will end up having a list that’s heavier on the side of Android.

Well this brings me to the end of the discussion and I hope that I have sparked up the thoughts about comparing both the dominant mobile operating systems and decide which one is better suited for you gave you the points for each side.

So tell us which operating system is better according to you Android or iOS? Please leave your comment will give you answer to all your question.

TRAI says Current Tarrifs are Fine

  • If you had been expecting your telecom operator to lower call tariffs then you might have to wait for longer for this to happen. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has said the current mobile tariffs are fine and it would continue with the existing tariffs for some time.

The mobile tariffs are competitive. We could not find that tariffs have been in any objectionable territory,” Rajeev Agarwal, secretary, the TRAI's is quoted as saying.

TRAI's comments on the prevailing call tariffs come in the wake of Bharti Airtel and other telecom operators' recent hike in 2G data tariffs, a move believed to help them cover costs and improve margins. The regulator had stakeholders' views on the need to review the prevailing tariffs. The regulator had also asked for views on having a tariff framework for data services.

The regulator also took up the issue of deactivation of inactive mobile connections, saying the recommendations for the same should be finalised by March. The telecom operators have been disconnecting connections on grounds of non usage. The regulator last month sought views from all operators and stakeholders on the issue.

The TRAI noted the arbitrary disconnections were hurting consumers who hadn't used their connection for some time but wanted to get back and found the disconnected service. In its consultation paper, the regulator revealed around 200 million SIMs had been inactive for over a certain period of time and the total balance on that account is Rs. 128.9 crore.

The regulator also hinted at stricter norms for activations of Value Added Services (VAS) such as caller tunes, cricket updates and others. According to Rajiv Agarwal, the telcos will have to have mandatory consent of a subscriber via e-mail, SMS, fax or in writing before activations of such services. The new norms are set to be implemented from February 2.

Govt Withdraws Ban on Bulk SMS-es and MMS-es

  • Friday, 31 August 2012
  • The government has withdrawn with immediate effect the ban on sending bulk SMS-es and MMS-es, a notification issued by the Home Ministry said today.

The ban was imposed on August 17, after reports emerged that threatening SMS-es were being sent to students from the North-East in cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad. It was aimed at checking the spread of rumours, which had fuelled panic.

The government had then said that for 15 days, cellphone users would be allowed to send only five messages a day. Later on August 23, the limit was increased from five to 20.

According to the government, since the clashes in Assam, misleading information and hate messages were being spread through SMS-es and MMS-es. Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter were also reportedly used to circulate morphed images.

Along with the restrictions on SMS-es and MMS-es, the government had also banned hundreds of web pages.
